Party Hat Birthday Card

Today is one of my best friends birthday! Happy Birthday Megan! I wanted to make a fun card for her, and knew right away that I would be using my DCWV celebrations stack. I started looking at some idea books, and some blogs and came across a card that gave me a base idea, and from there this is what I created!

Items used:
  • DCWV Celebrations stack
  • DCWV color card stock in red (from Textured card stock darks)
  • PBD stamps
  • ribbon
  • Adhesive (ATG and 3D foam squares)
  • Ink
  • Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridge
I started by cutting a card base from the patterned paper from the Celebrations stack, as well as the
Happy Birthday" sentiment.

I then cut the Party Hat from the Doodlecharm cartridge with the background being cut at 4 inches and the top layer slightly smaller (sorry I can't remember the exact size). I then cut the tassel out of the same paper that the sentiment came from.

After cutting all the pieces and assembling the party hat, I inked the edges of the sentiment strip and attached it with my ATG gun. I then ran the ribbon around the card and attached the party hat to the card with my ATG. I attached the 2 layers of the party hat with the 3D foam squares to give it some added depth.

When it came to finding a sentiment stamp for the inside of the card, I had a hard time picking just one, so I used 2 of them! I used one of the "Happy Birthday" sentiments from my Birthday Birthday set from PBD and a sentiment from the "Take the Cake" set! I also added a little birthday present stamp to the front of the card that came from the "Take the Cake" set as well.

I finished off the card, by stamping the back with part of my watermark stamp.
