Theme Day Thursday- Shoes!

 

 Today's theme is to make something with shoes! We are also using pink in honor of Breast Cancer awareness month that is coming up in October! Here is what I came up with. :)

Items used and how to:

• I started with an A2 card base, and some patterned paper. I trimmed the paper to fit the front of my base and wrapped some twine around it. Before securing it to the base, I inked the edges with some Tim Holts distressing ink. 
• Next I cut out my cute little flip-flops at 2 inches from Cheerful Seasons! I had to cut the strap layer multiple times as the strap for the right flip-flop didn't want to cut without coming out in 3 pieces. After trying and trying to get it to cut in one piece, I finally just gave up and pieced it together. I wish it would have cut correctly, but I think it just might be a little to small for it to have a nice crisp cut. 
• I attached my flip-flops to my card base using some pop-dots. 
• The inside is stamped with a sentiment from Pink by Design's Breast Wishes stamp set.

Imagine Monday

Today for my Imagine-ation project, I used the Yummy card to make a birthday card for my baby sister!

• I cut out the "Happy" "Birthday" banner pieces from the Yummy cartridge at 1 inch each. 
• Before attaching them to my card base, I cut down some patterned paper from my Celebrations stack by The paper studio to 5 3/8 x 4 7/8. 
• Before attaching the patterned paper, I strung some green and white twine around it 5 times. 
• I attached the patterned paper with ATG, and the banner pieces with some pop-dots. 
• The inside is stamped with a sentiment stamp from Pink by Design.

Imagine Monday!

Today my project for the design team is a card using the Imagine cartridge Better Together. To check out other projects using the Imagine, make sure to visit Erica's blog at http://mycricutcraftroom.blogspot.com/

• I used a A2 card base
• I cut the patterned paper to 3 7/8 x 5 3/8 so that it would be just slightly smaller than the front of the card base. 
• The lady carrying the presents is the cut from Better Together, and she is cut at 4 inches and attached to the card base using pop dots.
• Before attaching the patterned paper to the card base, I wrapped some twine around the paper, and then used ATG adhesive to attach the patterned paper to the card base. 
• I used Memento ink and a Happy Birthday sentiment stamp from the Scripted Year set from Pink by Design.

Pink by Design Anniversary challenge # 5!

The 5th challenge is to make a card or layout using the OMBRE technique. This is where you have colors that go from lightest to darkest. Here is my take on the challenge!

I started by cutting down my patterned paper to 5 3/8 x 3 7/ 8. I took my twine and laid it out from lightest to darkest and wrapped it around my paper. In the center I brought it together and attached it using a glue dot. I then made 3 circles using glue dots along the top of my card, and used 2 colors on each ones to make them look like lollypops. I used my pink twine to make the sticks for my lollypops. After securing all the twine to the back of the patterned paper, I attached it to my card base.

Next I stamped the banner and hand cut it from the same patterned paper that is used for the base. The banner comes from Everyday Banners, and the Have a Sweet Day stamp comes from Say it Sweet. When applying my ink for the have a sweet day, I used Memento inks Bahama Blue and Danube Blue to continue with the Ombre challenge.

For the inside of my card, I stamped it with a Happy Birthday stamp from the Birthday Birthday stamp set.

Card Sketch Tuesday!

My card today is using the card sketch challenge. This is what the sketch looks like....

And this is my take on the card! 

Items used:

• A2 card base with corners rounded 
• 2 patterned cardstock papers
• solid green cardstock
• ATG and pop dots 
• twine 
• memento ink
• letter stamps 
• Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge 

How to:

• I trimmed the corners of my A2 card base using a corner punch.
• I then cut the patterned card stock down to size and rounded the corners on both layers. 
• Next I cut the banner pendants at 1 inch from the Birthday Bash cartridge and strung them on some red and white twine. 
• I stamped them with the letter stamps, and then stamped the patterned paper. 
• I attached the patterned paper to the card base using the ATG adhesive and tucked the ends of the twine between the card base and the patterned paper. The banner pieces are held in place using pop dots.

Bloom card

Hi Everyone! Today is Would you ever guess Wednesday with My Cricut Craft Room! That means that we have all made something only using a shift key on a cricut cartridge! Please head on over to Erica's blog to see what the other design team members have made for today. 

• I cut the card base from Art philosophy at 6 inches - using a paper pattern from Imagine More Cards
• After cutting the cardbase out, I took the negative flowers and ran then through my sticker maker to make the up side sticky
• Once the flowers were sticky, I lined them with twine. I used a green twine for the stems, and the pretty colors for the flower portion. I then used a zig glue pen to adhesive them and placed them on the inside of the card so that they line up with the cut out on the front of the card.
• The last step was to add two sentiment stamps. Both are from Pink by Design Grow stamp set.

Imagine Monday!

My project to day is a birthday card for my Mother-in-law! She loves to sew, so I knew this card would be a hit!

Items used:

• Nifty Fifties and Imagine More cartridges 
• patterned paper from stash
• A7 paper studio craft paper card base 
• twine
• pop-dots
• "A stitch in time" frame cut from Imagine More at 4.5 inches
• sewing machine cut at 2 inches from Nifty Fifties
• ATG
• Sentiment stamp for inside (not pictured), and Memento ink

How To:

• I started by cutting my patterned paper down and adhering it to my card base using ATG
• I then attached the frame to the card base using pop-dots.
• Before adhering all layers of the sewing machine together, I added the twine to the spool of thread, and brought it down to the needle area to make it look like it was actually sewing something! I used some Zig glue to help keep the twine in place along the needle. 
• The sewing machine is also attached to the card base using pop-dots.

My 1st Blogaversary blog hop!

For my project today, I have made a "Celebrate" banner! I hope you enjoy!

 Completed banner

I started by using Robots party and Hopscotch Imagine cartridges to print and cut my banner pieces. The largest banner pendents are cut at 3.5 inches and have the pattern from page 2 right, the smaller banner pendents are cut at 3 inches and have the pattern from page 6 right. These are attached to each other with pop-dots.

I then cut my letters from Cherry Limeade and Hopscotch pattern from page 4 left at 3 inches. These are attached to the banner pendants using smaller pop-dots. The first and last banner pendants have 2

asterisk's each that have been attached to each other with glue dots to add some color and pop! 

Last, I connected all the banner pendants using Aqua-Divine Time twine from Pink by Design.

Happy Holiday's Christmas Card

My card today is a very easy, and cute Christmas card that I made to give to the child care workers at my MOPS meeting.

Items used:

• A7 Card base
• Patterned paper 
• ribbon 
• White, green, and red card stock
• pop-dots
• ATG adhesive
• Memento ink
• PBD sentiment stamps
• Jolly Holiday's cricut cartridge 
• xyron sticker maker
• twine
• Label die - from PBD

How To:

• I started by cutting the patterned paper down to fit the front of the card base. I attached it with ATG adhesive
• I cut the snowmen out at 3 inches and attached the layers together using my xryon sticker maker
• Because the arms for the snowmen cut out so small for this size cut, I just used a black gel pen to draw the arms onto the snowman. 
• I added the ribbon to the bottom of the card to add a little pop of color, and used ATG to adhere it to the card base
• I attached the snowmen with pop-dots 
• I also used the label die from PBD to cut out the tags for the front and used a PBD stamp for the sentiment for both the tag and the inside. The tag is also attached with pop-dots. The tag is finished off with a little bow made with twine.

My Imagination Monday!

Today's card is a birthday card for one of my sister-in-laws.

• Card base

• Tag cut from Imagine Better Together cartridge

How to:

•  I started by cutting the patterned paper to slightly smaller than the front of the card base
• Next I strung the twine around the patterned paper and attached both to the front of the card base
• I then used some pop-dots and attached the tag to the front of the card.
• For the inside of the card, I added 2 sentiment stamps from PBD.

Let's Monkey Around

Hi Everyone! Welcome to Card Creating Tuesday (CCT) with My Cricut Craft Room! I love CCT since I make a ton of cards!

Today's card is for my Chemo Angels patient younger brother. When assigned to a child they ask that as an angel we occasionally send something to the patients siblings if they have any since they can tend to feel left out or forgotten about when their sibling is undergoing treatment.  So last week I sent a nice big box to him and his siblings with some presents as well as some cards!

Items used:

• A2 size card base in craft paper color
• Orange, green and red polka-dot patterned paper 
• PBD sentiment stamps for front and inside of card 
• twine 
• Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge 
• 3D Foam adhesive
• ATG adhesive 
• Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black 

How To:

• I started by cutting the monkey from Create a Critter cartridge at 2.5 inches. When the 2 layers were cut out, I attached them together with adhesive. I took the "face" piece that was cut out of the darker brown and traced it on black paper and then hand cut this to attach on the back so that the eyes, nose and mouth area would appear black. 
• I then pulled out my polka-dot paper (that is new!!) and cut down the paper to be layered on the card. They are cut at: 
• Green 5 2/8 x 3 6/8 
• Orange 2 x 3 6/8 
• Red 1 1/2 x  5 2/8
• I attached the patterned paper with ATG adhesive and then took some twine and twisted 2 different colors together and wrapped it around the card to "hang" the monkey from. I made sure to allow the twine to be loose so that it looks like the monkey is swinging from it. 
• I attached the monkey with 2 3D foam adhesive pieces and used a pop-dot to attach the monkey's hand to the twine. 
• I then stamped the front of the card with a sentiment from PBD Jungle Fever as well as the inside of the card.

Fan Flash Friday Card!

On Friday's Pink By Design posts a picture on their facebook page starting the challenge and then they encourage others to post to be entered to win a prize! I sat down and was going through my stamps to find some inspiration for what to make. As soon as I saw this stamp the ideas just started coming to me! (Sorry the pictures are not as good as normal, I only had my iPhone near me when taking them!)

Items used:

• A2 card base 
• patterned paper cut to slightly smaller than the front of the card base
• pink cardstock
• Accent Essentials Cricut Cartridge 
• Adhesive 
• twine 
• Button
• 3D foam adhesive squares
• ATG Adhesive 
• Memento ink in Lady bug Red

How To:

• Cut the patterned paper down to size, ink edges, and attached to card with ATG adhesive
• Cut out heart from Accent Essentials cartridge at 3.5 inches. I cut the frame heart and the full heart. I stamped the heart with the saying and then attached the two together using the 3D foam squares. 
• I then looped the twine through the two layers forming a string to hang the heart from. 
• I then ran the twine around the card, and tied it off. To hide the knot, I attached a button over it. 
• I then hung my heart by twine from the button!

(Sorry this post didn't go up yesterday, I started it and then got sidetracked by making dinner and heading out for a family evening....while out as a family I ended up falling and breaking my ankle :(. I just now got back on my computer and was able to finish this up. :) ) 

Sweet Birthday Wishes

Today is one of my best friends birthday! (Happy Birthday Chris!!) Chris and I used to work together, and could always be found together having lunch! I sure miss being able to go to lunch with her now that we live just over 3,000 miles away from each other :(. We have however kept in touch and talk and email all the time! For her birthday, I made her the following card!

Items used:

• Card base cut to 6 x 5 
• Paper Studio Celebrations paper 
• Paper Studio ribbon
• Twine
• Memento Ink in Lilac Posies and Grape Jelly
• Pink by Design Stamps from "Say it Sweet" set
• 3D foam adhesive squares
• ATG adhesive
• scalloped circle punch

The inspiration for this card came from my new stamp set from PBD. This is one of the sets that was just released on Friday night and I am in love with it! I knew at the time I was buying it that I would end up making Chris birthday card with a sentiment (or 2!) from this set! Once I have narrowed down the sentiments I started to find some paper that I felt matched. That is when I pulled out the Cupcake paper by Paper Studio!

Once the paper and stamps were picked out, I cut the card base down so that my cupcake paper would fit on the front. I attached it to the front of the card base with ATG adhesive. I also wanted to try something new with my ribbon, so I cut it to fit exactly across the front, but then rolled the edges towards the back, and attached 3D foam squares to make the ribbon "pop" out! This allowed me to attach the scalloped punch with sentiment stamp with some twine.

For the scalloped punch, I used a scrap piece of paper from the same stack as the background paper. Before attaching, I inked the edges with my Grape Jelly memento ink, and punched a hole to be able to run the twine through. I then stamped the sentiment with Lilac Posies memento ink.

For the inside of the card, I used the Lilac Posies ink to stamp another PBD sentiment also from the Say it Sweet" stamp set.

Heaven Sent, Bundle of Joy

Today my friend Andrea had a new baby girl! So after getting the text message that she had delivered, I sat down and started making her a card, and I am really happy with how it turned out.

 Sentiment inside card says "A moment in the tummy a lifetime in my Heart.

Items used:

• Pink cardstock for card base cut 6 x 12 and then scored at 3 inches and 9 inches to make tri-fold card and for scalloped punches
• ribbon 
• cream cardstock for scalloped punches
• scalloped punch
• Twine
• 3D square adhesive
• ATG adhesive 
• Pink flowers 
• Yellow brad for center of flower
• Tim Holtz distressing ink
• Memento Cherry red ink 
• Memento Black ink
• Edge punch

I have been wanting to try making a tri-fold card lately, and just was waiting for the best opportunity to come along. When I sat down to make this card, I knew it was just the one to make as a tri-fold!

I stared by pulling out some light pink cardstock sheets that were 12 x 12. I cut one in half so that I would have a 6 x 12 piece of paper. I then used my Martha Stewart scoring board to score the paper at 3 inches and 9 inches, giving me a 3 inch flap on each side, and a 6 inch back.

I then pulled out my corner punches and picked one to give the edges of the flaps something extra. I then pulled out the ribbon and trimmed the ribbon to fit around the card. The ribbon starts / ends at the flap opening. I attached the ribbon with ATG adhesive on the back.

I then cut the scalloped circles using the same pink cardstock as the base card was made from as well as some scrap cream colored cardstock. I attached the two colors together using a 3D adhesive square and then inked the edges. Before attaching the two layers together, I stamped the sentiment onto the pink cardstock using the Memento cherry red ink. I attached the scalloped circles to the card also using a 3D adhesive square.

The flowers were attached together using a yellow brad, and then attached to the card using a small 3D adhesive square.

I also made the card, but forgot to right down what score marks ended up working for this card. (Sorry!) I am going to have to play around some more with some white paper to make it a better fit, as this envelope was a little big width and almost to small for the height.

I added the ribbon to the card to give it a little extra color.

I also happened to make some banana bread today, so decided to take her some to have in the hospital. After rapping it up in tinfoil, I used twine to bundle it all up and then stuck a bow on it to match the ribbon on the card!

My card this week for my Chemo Angel patient was very simple. In the information provided to me by the angel program, his parents expressed how much their faith was important to them. This past weekend, I picked up the "Faith" stamp set from Pink by Design and knew right away that I could make some wonderful cards for him with it!

Items used:

• DCWV card base
• Twine
• Yellow card stock
• Square punch
• Memento ink in Bahama blue and tuxedo black
• Buttons from Doodlebug Design (Sea breeze and Christmas)
• Tim Holtz Distressing Ink 
• Pink by Design Faith and Believe in Yourself sets 
• 3D foam squares

I started by selecting a DCWV card base from my pre-printed stash. I then used my square punch and some yellow cardstock to punch the yellow square. I then inked the square with my Tim Holtz distressing ink and stamped it with the PBD sentiment stamp from the Faith set. I attached the sentiment to the card base with a 3D Foam square.

I used the twine to give the buttons a "sewn on" look, but really just tied the twine in the back, and attached the buttons with 3D foam squares.  Once the front of the card was finished, I inked the edges of the card, and stamped the sentiment on the inside of the card from the Believe in yourself set.

Happy Birthday Blog Hop!

Hi and welcome to my Birthday Blog hop! This is the start of the hop that includes 12 wonderful blogs on the hop (there are 2 that are only able to participate on Sunday - so make sure to come back if you are hoping on Saturday!). I hope you enjoy hopping along and enjoy all the projects that everyone has come up with!

The theme for today's hop is Birthday! I will be celebrating my 27th birthday on August 3rd and can't think of a better way to celebrate it with all of you! Everyone on the hop has made any project that makes them think "Birthday".


For my project, I have created some party decorations! I made a "Happy Birthday" banner, invitations and topped it all off with some matching cupcake toppers and a card! I hope you enjoy!

Items used for the banner:

• Birthday Bash cricut cartridge 
• Blast off Imagine cartridge
• Scalloped 2 inch circle punch
• 3D Foam adhesive squares 
• Twine
• Stickers from my stash
• Striped paper from DCWV Stack 7

I started by cutting out the banner triangles using both the Birthday Bash cartridge and the blast off cartridge to make them the orange background color. These were cut at 3.5 inches.

After cutting out all the banner triangles, I tied them together using 4.5 inch pieces of twine. Once all the banner pieces were attached together, I punched the scalloped circles and attached the letters (stickers) and then attached the scalloped circles to the banner with 3D foam squares.

Next up was the invitations:

Items used for Invitaion:

• Birthday Bash cricut cartridge
• Blast Off Imagine cartridge
• Memonto Ink
• Bo Bunny stamp set
• Twine

I started by cutting the triangles that matched the banner at 5 inches using the same cartridges as before. Once they were cut out, I lined up my stamps to fit the scalloped sides of the invitation and stamped them using Memonto ink. I then added the twine bow to give the invitation a little pop of color.

Then came the cupcake toppers:

• Scalloped 2 inch punch
• Memonto ink
• Happy Birthday stamp from PBD "Birthday Birthday" set
• toothpick
• adhesive
• DCWV striped paper from Stack 7 
• Left over paper from triangles 

I used left over striped paper and triangle paper to punch scalloped circles. Once they were punched out, I added the "Happy Birthday" sentiment. I then used some adhesive to attach a toothpick to the back of the punch.

Last is the card:

Items used for card:

• Birthday Bash cartridge 
• Scalloped 5 inch card base
• scalloped circle cut at 4.5 inches
• Scalloped 2 inch punch
• Extra banner triangle
• Sentiment stamps (both from PBD)
• 3D foam squares
• ATG adhesive
• Brads

For the card, I started by using a scalloped card base that I had in my stash. I then cut a scalloped circle at 4.5 inches from the Birthday Bash cartridge and attached it to the front of the card base using my ATG gun.  Next came attaching the banner triangle and scalloped punch with the "Happy Birthday" sentiment. The banner was attached using 2 brads through the striped paper (now that I am typing this out, I did this before attaching the scalloped circle to the card base.) I then used a 3D square to attache the 2 inch scalloped punch to the triangle. Before adding this, I stamped it with the sentiment using Memonto ink and inked the edges.

Once the front of the card was all done, I added the sentiment to the inside of the card!
